Areas of Concentration in Study Topics

Academic Public Health and Environment

The Public Health and Environment Program has three areas of concentration, each with its respective research lines:

Environmental Epidemiology

This concentration focuses on teaching the conceptual foundations of epidemiology as an essential investigative method for studying the origin, evolution, and control of health problems in human populations and its applications in environmental issues.

Research Lines:

  1. Epidemiology of chronic diseases, aging, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and external causes
  2. Epidemiology of infectious diseases

Management and Environmental Sanitation

This concentration focuses on teaching conceptual and methodological foundations for analyzing environmental impacts on ecosystems and health and environmental management.

Research Lines:

  1. Environmental Management and Health
  2. Sanitation and Environmental Health, including Child Health

Environmental Toxicology

This concentration is dedicated to studying the conceptual foundations, molecular mechanisms, and methodologies necessary to understand toxicology and its relationship with the environment, its effects on human health and ecosystems, and its contributions to sustainable and healthy environmental management. It highlights its connections with other public health disciplines.

  1. Exposure to Chemical, Physical, and Biological Agents and Associated Effects, Including Pathologies, on Human and Animal Health
  2. Toxicology and Health, Evaluation of Contaminants, Pollutants, and Waste and Their Impacts on Population Health
